About Glyph & Cog

Company Information

Glyph & Cog was formed in 2002 to support and commercialize the Xpdf project. Glyph & Cog owns all rights in the Xpdf code and is dedicated to continuing the open source project, as well as providing commercially licensed software and consulting services.

What does the name mean?

A glyph is a particular shape, typically a letter, digit, or other symbol. A font is a collection of glyphs. For example, the Helvetica-Bold and Times-Roman fonts each have their own glyph for the lowercase letter 'a'.

Combined, glyph and cog symbolize machinery (software) for working with electronic documents, which is Glyph & Cog's primary mission.
